She doesn't eat. She works out every single day. She spends hundreds of dollars a month on clothes and make up products. She hasn't worn her hair natural in years. She doesn't ever "dress down." She doesn't see her worth or her perfection. She doesn't see the hope or the future God has laid out for her. She doesn't know that every single second she insults her reflection, she insults God's work of art. She is drowning in the bitterness and cruelty of the world's idea of "beauty" because the world's idea is wrong.
We aren't supposed to fit in a mold.
Our culture says we should be "unique," but then it makes being unique something that's the same for everyone. No matter how long our hair is, it's not long enough. No matter how skinny our legs are, they could still use some work.
No matter how stylish our clothes are, how nice our car is, or how straight our teeth are, we still aren't meeting the standards society has imprinted in our minds.
We are ALL different, and God made us that way on purpose. We aren't all going to be homecoming queen or models, because the standards we are compared to are not of the world, but of our heavenly father.
God looks at us and he sees his daughters -- ALL beautiful. Every daddy looks at their daughter like she is something special and that's because we all are special.
Don't get caught up in how the world tells you to look, act, or be. The only opinion that matters is God's, and he's not looking at the outside. Instead of striving to beautify the outside, give your soul a makeover. Become beautiful in the deepest parts of your heart and God's love and beauty will shine through you. Don't forget how beautiful and cherished you are. No matter what the world says to tear you down, Jesus is always there to build you back up.
