One person to be there for you, to believe in you and to make you happy.

You Only Need One Person In Life

You have certain people you can talk to, laugh with and enjoy the simple things with. People to be there for you when times are tough. But you don't need an incredible amount of these kind of people in your life to feel like you're doing alright. You only need one.

You only need one person to support you. To give you that extra added confidence you so desperately needed. To give you that push off that you weren't able to do for yourself. To see the talent that not even yourself can see yet because they believe in you. To believe in your dreams for you and to push you to achieve those. They will be that person that will be with you every step of the way until you reach your goals and achieve those dreams.

You only need one person to talk to. You certainly cannot bottle everything up and talking to 10 people about your problems can become confusing. You only need that one person to confide in. That one person you're able to trust with just about anything. That one person who can give you that solid advice that you have been craving for. To know that they will never judge you for the choices you make and to back your decisions you want to make. They may disagree with the choices and decisions, but they do because they care and they know they would impact your life in a negative way. They are the ones who can see reason when even you can't.

You only need one person to change your life in a positive way. This person brings a light so bright that it's impossible for any darkness to linger around.

That person for me is my mom. Through everything our family has been through, she continues to be a rock for my sister and I to this day and always will be. With the absence of family members, she fills in those positions and exceeds expectations every day for what she does for us. She is my biggest support system and is always there to encourage me. Even if it meant she would drive the 5+ hours to see me play a lacrosse game at Thiel just so she can support me in the sport that I love. She is the person to inspire my love of rock and horror movies. Who took me to my first concert. Who I would rather stay in and watch a movie with on a Friday night. Who I miss terribly when I am away from her when I am at school. Who I can confide in and vent to when I know no one else will understand. I know that if I always have the support and love from my mother, I am going to be exceptional in life. She is my person and she always will be.

If you have somebody lucky enough to be "your person" (which I know you do), you're going to be alright in life because of them. Whether it be an aunt or a grandfather. A neighbor or a close friend. A coach or a teacher. Whatever the relationship may be with them, they can be your person in life. That person to make you happy and to have the feeling that that person will always be standing in your corner for you. You only need one person in life and everyone has someone they can turn to because they have their person.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
