Walk Through the Streets of Paris in These 4 Films

"Midnight in Paris"

This film will bring you through the most beautiful areas of Paris and a glimpse into the city's magical past. "Midnight in Paris" follows American screenwriter, Gil Pender, through his adventures around Paris and a mysterious journey through the past.

One night as Gil wander the streets of Paris, a 1920s car pulls up beside him. The passengers, dressed in 1920s-era clothing, urge him to accompany them to a party. However, when Gil arrives at the party, he soon realizes that he is no longer in the year 2010…but has traveled back to the 1920s. As lover of the roaring 20s, Gil feels right at home, but he soon finds himself back in the year 2010. Night after night, Gil escapes the present to party with the Fitzgeralds and share drinks with Ernest Hemingway.

"Charade"

This film stars two Hollywood legends: the always perfect Audrey Hepburn and the charming Cary Grant. Unlike others, "Charade" spans three genres; comedy, romance and thriller.

Filmed in Paris, this film follows Reggie (Hepburn) as she tries to uncover the truth behind her husband's death. Regina is vacationing in the mountains when she meets a handsome stranger, Peter (Grant). On her return to Paris, Reggie comes home to an empty apartment and a dead husband. Peter, the mysterious yet charming stranger, finds Regina and helps her out…or does he have other intentions for this newly widowed woman with a large missing fortune? With spies, murder, witty humor and an unlikely love connection, this film is one you will not soon forget.

"Moulin Rouge!"

This film captures the magic and mystery of Paris. From the outlandish characters to the glamorous musical numbers, "Moulin Rouge!" is a film that will make you feel as if you are witnessing a true Parisian cabaret.

The film tells the tragic love story of a young man, Christian, who goes to Paris to pursue his dreams of becoming a writer. However, Christian soon finds himself lost in love with the star of the Moulin Rouge, cabaret dancer Satine. Satine rejects his love for her, but as they work together on a show, Satine begins to fall in love with Christian, until tragedy strikes. Filled with humor, drama and mystery, you will feel as if you have transported to a front row seat at the authentic Moulin Rouge in Paris.

"The Pink Panther"

We all know the original "The Pink Panther" cartoon, but few remember thefilms.

Set in Paris, the film follows French police inspector Jacques Clouseau. Clouseau is a humorous and often clumsy inspector on the hunt for a jewel thief known as “The Phantom.” On the trail to capture the thief, Clouseau always seems to look in all the wrong places and finds himself being questioned in court about whether he is in fact “The Phantom.” Although not filmed in Paris, this film captures the bustle of life through the streets of the famous city in the 1960s. With its slapstick comedy and twist and turns, this film is one to remember.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
