"Each moment of the year has it's own beauty"

Every season comes and goes, and every season is filled with new memories created. We all have the season of the year that holds a special place in our heart. Whether it be because of the weather or the memories we remember from it, there is one season, to us, that tops all.

Of all the seasons I cherish the most, my favorite is winter. A lot of my favorite memories and days come from the winter season. My favorite part about winter is snow. Nothing beats the feeling of waking up to it snowing outside, watching it stick to the ground and slowly pile up. The most beautiful part of the snow is how it looks after the storm is over. The untouched masterpiece of snow is so delicate; one footprint ruins the beauty of it.

Winter also brings the holiday season. The non-stop Christmas music being played on the radio, all the people rushing to get the perfect gift for that special person. All the lights shining throughout the neighborhood. Businesses closing the doors for the day so we can spend time with our families. The best part about the holiday season is that it brings the best out of people. It brings the selflessness of doing something for someone else. Going the extra mile for someone besides yourself. It's not about the presents, it's about spending the day with those who mean the most to you.

Another aspect of winter I love is the weather. I love the bitter cold weather. Bundling up in your heaviest coats and scarves to face the cold. But, it's not being out in the cold that is my favorite part, it's coming inside after being out in the cold and feeling the heat cover you. You get to strip off all the layers and make the perfect cup of coffee. Then, snuggle under the blankets and read your favorite book.

My last, but most favorite part of winter, is two of the special memories I associate with it. My first memory is when my sister and I were granted a snow day. We were in high school, but that day we were younger again. At the time, we had just seen the movie Frozen, so we decided to take advantage of the day and build a snowman. This snowman, was undoubtedly, the worst snowman ever created. We didn't even get three layers and we put a beanie on it for a cap. We made up a story for him and everything. We even had a small snowball fight break out while we were trying to build it.

My second favorite memory I have is another snow day. We live close to a hill that was nothing but perfect for sledding. So, we packed it all up and headed off. We had a snow board for my brother and a sled for me. Matt tried to build a ramp out of snow, and we managed to create a small one. The part I love the most is one of the first times down the hill. My brother and I were in the sled and we started down. Little did we know, we were putting too much weight towards the front and, at the end, we completely face planted straight into the cold snow. Me, being in the front, got the worst of it, and my face was completely numb after the crash. We got up, and my dad started laughing and soon we were all laughing.

It's true winter can bring some qualities that are not good. But, I choose to see the better qualities of it and hold onto them as long as I can. The memories I have created I will always hold near my heart. Along with the holiday season and the pretty lights. And, the perfect weather and the snow that comes along with it. With all these together, it is the perfect combination for a great winter season.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
