First of all, please completely disregard the title of this article and know that it's merely a fabrication. Women are of course just as intelligent as men and should be able to vote. So don't worry, I'm not that guy. Little fun fact: I'm probably the last guy to write a political article arguing why you should believe something.
This article is a social experiment; it's about the great scourge of our time, which is people not reading the fine print. I suppose a proper title for this article could be "The Beauty In Reading" but I wanted something more startling and eye-catching. To further sell this false title and to fool those who scan (and not read) articles, here is a gif of Donald Trump.
The purpose of this article is to convey to my audience how important it is to actually read an article. Reading an article doesn't mean just read the title. It doesn't mean just glance at a few of the paragraphs. It doesn't mean reading half of it. It means you actually put your phone down, turn off the TV, turn down the music, and read every word of the article. That's the best way to totally comprehend an article.
Are you still reading this article? Good. You're a reader, not a scanner.
So you've made it this far and you're passing this test. Isn't it a shame that we youngsters don't take the time to fully indulge ourselves in the beauty of reading someone else's ideas and thoughts? And with a title like the one I've given this article, it will be interesting to see how many people assume that I have in fact written about why women should never vote. What a joke. It was hard for me to even write that title. You ever try to write the stupidest things? Well, it's tough.
Here's another picture, this time a funny one of Hillary Clinton, for the scanners again.
So I'm alluding to a point I want to make: reading, in general, helps develop the ability to empathize. Whether you're reading a fiction or nonfiction book, a poem, an article, a blog, a journal entry, a movie review, song lyrics, or even a tweet, you're getting a glimpse of how someone else perceives some idea or phenomena. Reading is a nice break from the constant state of living in a world that seemingly revolves around me, myself, and I. It's a chance to step into someone else's shoes and understand what it is they're thinking and why they're thinking it. If you can do that, there is hope for a better world, because empathy is often times the number one thing lacking from the human race.
The next time you read an article, make sure you truly do readit. Still don't like the title of this article? Probably not. But do you like what you just read?
