So Oak Lane might not seem like the most glamorous place. Okay, in reality it's just a glorified dorm with it's lack of air conditioning, twin beds and cinderblock walls, but living in the Tri Delta house was one of the best decisions I've made in my college career. I know that everyone says that, especially during recruitment, but I mean it.
Move in, in the Fall was a little rough it was about 150 degrees in late August and I had to send back bins of clothes that didn't fit in my wardrobe but before I knew it I was having the time of my life. I shared a suite with three of my closest friends but living with thirty girls in my pledge class we all got so close over the course of the year. Every party we went to we got to roll up as an entourage and every night there was always somebody to hang out with.
I will warn you that with that many girls all lounging around somebody is always ordering Benny's or Jimmy John's so watch your wallet and your waist line, but I wouldn't do a single thing differently. Some of the best memories I have from junior year include just sitting around with my best friends playing Cards Against Humanity or watching movie marathons in the big room. It made recruitment so much easier especially when everyone had to get here by a certain deadline there wasn't any conflict with PNM's because us house girls were just rolling out of bed.
If there is one piece of advice I can give to girls so they can get the most out of their Greek experience at Tech it would be to move into the house. There will never be another chance in your life to have a living arrangement like this. You will never again have so many closets to choose from or so many friends so close. It will help you bond with your pledge class and give you so many opportunities to get involved. If you can even have half of the time I had living in the house this year you'll be in for a great experience.
