Why Millennials Are Nothing To Worry About Compared To Our Parents

Although there are doubts about our generation, let's take a look at what our parents thought was cool back in the day.

Why Millennials Are Nothing To Worry About Compared To Our Parents
Global Trends

Whenever someone asks me what time period I would live in if I could, I always say the 1950s. I'm not sure if it's because of my infinite love for the movie Grease, or because of the innocence of the time, however, whenever I think about it, I become sad that I can't actually live then. It's not that I don't love being a millennial (eye roll) but I am so sick of being plugged into a group of people where we are all so different. Not everyone who was born in the 90's and early 2000's enjoys taking selfies, drinking Starbucks and having an opinion on controversial issues. There are some who just like to go with the times. I heard the other day that people are worried about my generation being the future of the world, so with a little research, I compiled a list of questionable things that my parents did at my age in the 70s and 80s, and what people my age do in 2017 that causes so much worry.

1970s....

1. Cabbage Patch Dolls

Not sure what the craze was, but these things were a BIG deal.

2. Tall Hair

It was like a competition for them.

3. Not wearing sunscreen

Walking around like lobsters and collecting chances of skin cancer was cool I guess.

4. Carrying pocket knives around

Not confiscated or anything.

5. Smoking cigarettes without any fear

Also second hand smoke was inevitable.

6. Playing Oregon trail

For hours.

7. Not wearing helmets

So what if you fly off, it looks cooler.

2017...

1. Posting personal information on social media and talking to strangers

"Don't I know you?" *Oh yeah I stalked their page*

2. Spending a whole day watching a Netflix series or Youtube videos

Inside in bed.

3. Saying "lit"

Along with several other slang terms our parents don't even understand.

4. Using Uber

Nothing sketchy about it!

5. Using their phones to avoid social interaction

No friends here, must act like I am talking to them on here.

6. Taking the perfect selfie even if the environment becomes dangerous

It will be legendary and I need to remember it.

To sum it all up, both generations, and all generations for that matter, have their own quirks. Popular sayings, gadgets and styles come and go and nothing too terrible has resulted because of them. And if any of these sounded familiar to you, than that just proves that we aren't that different after all.

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.

8tracks radio

We all scroll through the radio stations in the car every once in a while, whether its because we lost signal to our favorite one or we are just bored with the same ol' songs every day. You know when you're going through and you hear a song where you're just like "I forgot this existed!" and before you know it, you're singing every word? Yeah, me too. Like, 95% of the time. If you're like me and LOVE some good throwback music, here's a list of songs from every genre that have gotten lost in time, but never truly forgotten.

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Which is none other than beer; wonderful cold beer. With summer playing peek-a-boo around the corner while we finish up this semester, it's time to discuss the only important part of summer.
