I think I can speak for everyone when I say when we heard that the sequel to "Finding Nemo" was coming out, we were all super excited. "Finding Dory" is the story of Dory, how she lost her parents and inevitably finds them on an adventure across the ocean with Nemo and Marlin. This movie was perfect for kids, but also satisfying for '90s kids to watch. We watched "Finding Nemo" as children, and to see "Finding Dory" was something we all know we are going to do at some point because it’s what we grew up with, and, come on, we’re all a bit curious about Dory. "Finding Nemo" was a great movie when we were younger and left us with quotes like "Just keep swimming," and showed us how parents will go to any lengths for their kids, even if it is across the ocean. "Finding Dory" explains everything from the infamous "Just keep swimming" line to why Dory knows how to speak whale. So, to break it down for you, here are some of my favorite parts of "Finding Dory."
1. Baby Dory
The flashbacks to when Dory was a baby with her parents were hands-down my favorite part of the movie. The movie tied together perfectly Dory’s backstory, and as she remembered more and more throughout the movie, we were shown little bits and pieces of her past. Not only was baby Dory adorable, but also funny.
2. Destiny, the whale
Destiny is Dory’s pipe pal and was the one who taught Dory how to speak whale. This was a great tie into the first movie, and throughout the film, Destiny helps Dory along with her neighbor, Bailey, to get to where she is going.
3. The sea lions and Becky
I don’t know why I found this so funny, but all of the scenes with the sea lions and Becky, the bird, had my friends and I laughing out loud.
4. When Dory finds her family
After traveling across the ocean, Dory finally finds her family because she was able to remember. In this heartwarming moment, she apologizes for forgetting her parents and losing them.
5. When Dory rescues Marlin and Nemo off of the truck to “the Cleveland”
After finding her parents, she remembers she misses Marlin and Nemo, but they’re on a truck and she’s in the ocean. She leaves her parents, who she was just with, to rescue them off of the truck to Cleveland, but after she does, she gets stuck on the truck. With the help from her new octopus friend, they drive the truck by themselves and save all of the fish in the truck from going to Cleveland.
"Finding Dory" was an all together great movie to go see for the family or just for yourself to finally figure out what "Finding Nemo" left out. This movie hits home and will win over your heart in three heart beats. We finally understand you, Dory.
