Why Everyone Should Play Pokémon Go

After spending approximately one hour scrolling through Yahoo! News I have yet to find one positive story. Terrorists, police shootings, and politics are currently dominating the news. While I believe these are extremely important topics, I’m tired of hearing the negative. I’m tired of wanting to cry every time the death toll rises. Instead, I’ll write about how I’ve been spending all my time on a new app.

Pokémon Go is life. It’s by far my current favorite app and without a doubt I am determined to “catch them all.” I’m not going to lie and pretend I’ve ever been as obsessed with Pokémon as I am now. I of course watched the show, because let’s be honest, who didn’t? I definitely owned a Pikachu toy and I had a real poké ball. It popped open and everything. But I can’t name more than five Pokémon, and I have never owned the trading cards.

With the Pokémon Go app my love for Pokémon has returned, and has grown. I believe I am not alone in this. The world is infatuated with Pokémon. I personally do not care if you even knew what a Pokémon was before the Pokémon Go app. It’s a fun app, if someone want’s to play then play. It’s never too late to love Pokémon.

I’ve had the app downloaded for about a week and a half now. I’ve been going downtown almost every night to “catch them all.” I love seeing the sidewalks full of people. The Indianapolis canal is constantly crowded with people. There is this sense of unity that can only be explained by experiencing it. I know this sounds sappy and cheesy, but I love this game. With all the evil in the world it’s bringing everyone together. It’s giving us a new conversation.

Let’s all put on our watching shoes and catch some Pokémon.

Epic Creation Myths: Norse Origins Unveiled

What happened in the beginning, and how the heavens were set in motion.

The Norse Creation Myth

Now, I have the everlasting joy of explaining the Norse creation myth. To be honest, it can be a bit kooky, so talking about it is always fun. The entire cosmos is included in this creation myth, not just the earth but the sun and the moon as well. This will be a short retelling, a summary of the creation myth, somewhat like I did with Hermod's ride to Hel.

If you're like me and LOVE some good throwback music, here's a list of songs from every genre that have gotten lost in time, but never truly forgotten.

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Which is none other than beer; wonderful cold beer. With summer playing peek-a-boo around the corner while we finish up this semester, it's time to discuss the only important part of summer.
