It’s no secret that America is very divided when it comes to politics. Both Democrats and Republicans have very strong opinions on how the country should run and these opinions are very different from each other. It’s also very hard for either party to truly listen to the other side without getting upset or offended. This divide has created a lot of hate in our country.
And, unfortunately, this hate has turned violent is some cases.
I grew up in a conservative house where both of my parents always voted Republican. I had these same values and I still do to an extent. But after a year in college where I was on my own, I started to realize that I don’t agree with all of the things that the Republican party stands for. And how can I support a party that willingly made Donald Trump it’s presidential nominee?
Now on the other hand, Democrats aren’t any better. I am very much pro-life and the fact that most liberals support abortion is definitely a big reason why I will most likely never vote Democrat. They also tend to have a socialist point of view and some of them believe that college should be free, which is another thing that I don't agree with.
So as you can see, both parties have very different views on how the country should be run. But the views aren't necessarily the problem. The problem with our political system is that both parties are so concerned with being right and getting their points across that we forget to love each other even if we don’t agree with each other’s political opinions.
But politics do have a place in our society. We need good leadership in order to keep the country running. But right now, it doesn’t seem like our country is running very well. We need to figure out a way to get past our differences and come up with a solution because right now, it isn’t working. I don’t want to belong to any party right now because neither party is willing to find a way to work it out.
I still think it is very important to vote in the presidential election. If you don’t like either of the candidates, then find someone who is running as an independent who you agree with on the important issues. Don’t use terrible nominees as an excuse to not participate in your freedom to choose.
I don’t want to belong to any party that puts their opinions ahead of the well-being and freedom of others. Unfortunately, this is both parties in our country. We all need to stop worrying about proving our points or being right and start listening and loving each other. There are thousands of people who are struggling and if we are all too busy fighting with each other about how to run our country, we are ignoring those people who desperately need us.
