Thanksgiving break is over, and I have never been more upset. Almost an entire week of no school, endless food, lots of alcohol, and countless memories are over. Whether you spent your break at home or somewhere warmer, I’m jealous of this group, Thanksgiving break is one of the greatest breaks we have as college students.
During the fall semester, it is the longest break we have. It’s one of those breaks where out-of-staters can finally go home to eat their Portillos or whatever else they always complain about missing while being in Kentucky. I live in Louisville, so the only thing I miss is Heine Brother’s Coffee. But, the point is that Thanksgiving break is long and coming back to school is a hate love relationship.
The worst part though, we have finals in 2 weeks. Again, WE HAVE FINALS IN 2 WEEKS! How can the best break be followed by one of the most stressful weeks of our college tenure? It truly is a cruel life we live in. We have classes this week. Dead week next week. Which really isn’t dead because we always have homework and papers due, although UK states that this isn’t allowed. Then, we have finals. After finals are over it is Christmas break. Christmas is the greatest holiday in my opinion. When Christmas is over, there is New Years, Dance Blue, Spring Break, Greek Sing, Spring Formal and summer. That’s a lineup I’d like to have on my team. For some of us though, graduation is in December. So, those 3 weeks of school that are left seem even shorter. After that last test, there is only Christmas and the New Year. There is no spring semester to look forward to.
It’s hard to believe we may have just moved into our houses a few months ago, just started new unbreakable bonds when we were still wearing shorts, watched our football team struggle and still show up to every tailgate. Whether it’s the end of your first semester of college or your last, you’ll never forget the memories that you made, unless you went too hard one night. For those of you that get to look forward to spring, good luck with your finals. Enjoy next semester. For those of us graduating on December 19th, good luck on passing your classes. Next spring just won’t be the same without us.
