Life is fine and dandy sitting in your comfy chair, eating your Cool Ranch Doritos, binge-watching "Dance Moms." Everything is great until it’s 11:25p.m. and you remember your essay on the Theory of Relativity is due at midnight. Fear strikes the heart. You rush to grab your laptop as all the information you know about the topic drains out of your mind. Once again, you find yourself in a panic as it's a race to the finish line (11:59p.m.).
1. Don’t panic.
This will only make it worse, as the amount of stress went from 0-60 real quick.
2. Write in the top corner your name, professor, class, and date.
3. Mess your name up.
Oh, God, no. No, God, you messed up. How could you mess that up?
4. Panic.
5. Write the first sentence.
Now we're getting somewhere. You're writing the first sentence (at least eight times), but the thesis statement is said to be the most important part of any paper, holding the true meaning of life for the assignment. Get this down and you're golden, now if only you could recall the objective of the essay.
6. Power your way through the first paragraph and feel accomplished.
Only ten minutes in and you have successfully completed the first seven sentences of the four pages. So close. Do not cry now, hold it in and feel the pride.
7. Take a short break for a reward and reheat that taco in the fridge you left there three days ago.
Everyone deserves a reward, treat yourself.
8. Read the package on your frozen pizzas because now you have a minute to kill.
9. Check the time. It is now 11:43p.m.
10. Panic.
11. Sit down with determination and fear as you power through the rest of the essay.
Run back to the essay full of determination to succeed in life and college. Feel the motivation as you see your future flash before your eyes as the clock keeps ticking.
12. Finish the paper, spell check once, send it in for a final grade.
It may have been 11:58 p.m. but who cares? It's in, you made it, champ, you're going to live! All the stress subsides as you breathe for the first time in the last 30 minutes.
