When You Know You've Found Your Best Friend

Forever best friends can be real.

I can speak for most when I say that I have had my fair share of best friends. From kindergarten best friends to forever best friends (or so I thought), I've had them all. Unfortunately, most of which you can gather didn't work out, but this time is different. Over a year ago, I met that person.

During my junior year of high school, it was pretty common for me to walk down the halls and hear people calling after me, " Hey Tyhesia." At first I was confused, but one day I realized that they were actually mistaking me for another girl whose name was Tyhesia. I had always knew of this girl since we went to school together, but I had never actually spoken a word to her until one day shortly after that. It was just another day of football practice for me being an athletic trainer for the team, or so I thought. I walked into the room and was pleased to hear that we would be gaining new trainers that day, and I was more than glad considering we were short on people. It just so happened that one of those trainers was Tyhesia...

It's crazy how strange life can be sometimes. I had went from being mistaken for this girl one day to being introduced to her the next. It was odd yet surprisingly pleasing, because the more we talked the more I realized that we actually had a lot of things in common. We laughed about being mistaken for each other, and we laughed about never meeting each other until now. She was having problems with her best friend at the time, and I had actually drifted apart from mine. Thinking back on it, we both had came into each others' lives at the perfect time. We may have just met a few days ago, but we honestly talked like we knew each other our whole life.

Flash forward to today, and she is literally the most perfect best friend. I feel like we have known each other forever, but I have only had the privilege of knowing her for these past two years. Time is but a number, and I can truly say that I have found my forever best friend. I am more than grateful to be able to call her not only my best friend, but my twin and partner in crime.

You know you've found your best friend when..

- You spend the majority of your time with her.

- She doesn't act like she doesn't know you when you're riding down every aisle of Walmart on the shopping cart like a 5 year old.

- She keeps a spare toothbrush at your house.

- She is willing to go out and pick up pizza with you even though you're both just wearing giant t-shirts.

- She doesn't judge you for the amount of food you can eat at a time.

- Most of all, she loves you at your best and at your worst.

"As we grow up, we realize it becomes less important to have a ton of friends, and more important to have real ones."

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
