At the start of a New Year, ideas and hopes hit the mind with what could this new year bring into our lives. We always begin to see the possibilities of what could happen to us throughout the year! Will I find love; will I pass the year with the grades that I want; will death be an inevitable circumstance this year?

Last week, I reflected about some of the major events that occurred last year, which in many ways shaped this upcoming year in many ways. Every action an effect and every effect produces another effect and so on and so forth, yet what effects are we to see?

The Presidency Is Passed On!

In a couple of days, President Barack Obama will finish his 8 years of office and a new Commander-in-Chief will be sworn in on Capitol Hill. For many this will be a sign of contradiction and instability for the nation.

After the large coverage of the Presidential Debates and conferences, America will see a new face in the presidency! What will be the outcome of such presidency is what we have to wait and see in this year!

Hollywood Makes A Stand

Movies create a mentality and ideas that completely influence and move an entire groups of people, nations, and every human heart. In the year of 2016, there was a great number of movies that moved many people into new ideas and movements which were not as truly seen or recognized by many.

Hollywood and the actors have taken to heart many of the issues concerning our nation and world of today. The most remarkable movie of our time showing how Hollywood is truly taking an interest in our current times is:Before the Flood, documentary. Produced by one of the most influential actors and man of our current times, Leonardo DiCaprio. This film truly tackled some of the most controversial issues of the world!

Personal Satisfaction

Besides all the other aspects of improvement or acceptance, there is also a wanting of personal satisfaction in this new upcoming year! Consider why people make up “resolutions”? We want to have a perfect idea of what who are to be that we decide that we will dedicate an entire year to becoming a better version of ourselves.

With all of these improvements comes a great deal of responsibility that demands tons of patience and self control.

Overall, I hope that everyone finds 2017 to be a challenging yet rewarding year. Let's hope that the entire year will be filled with blessings and hope!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
