What To Do Before Winter Break Ends

As this winter break comes to an end, it suddenly starts to hit that school will begin and it will be time to go back to all of the responsibilities that the next semester will bring. Before it is time to go back, why not take advantage of this time to do a few things you may not be able to do during the semester? Here are some things one could do to enjoy the last few weeks of winter break.

1. Read that book you have been wanting to read but couldn’t because of the things you had to already read for class.

2. Learn that thing you’ve been wanting to learn how to do.

3. If you’re in your hometown and leave for school, gather all your friends from home and go out on that last hoorah before you go on your separate ways.

4. Have a movie marathon of your favorite movie series.

5. Start that show you’ve been wanting to watch on Netflix

6. Make a healthy habit: start jogging, eat healthier, find a workout that you like and works for you and try to stick to it

7. Spend any time with your loved ones that you can get.

8. Clean out your room of all the clutter from the previous semester.

Don’t let this winter break go to waste. Now that the holiday season is over, relax and prepare for what this new year has to offer.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
