Confidence means being able to walk down the street without tugging at your shirt. Who cares if someone sees your stomach for half a second? Confidence is the ability to walk, hands by your side, not wrapped in front of your stomach. You look more ridiculous doing that than if you were walking around naked. It's about wearing that crop-top in your closet that your always too nervous to wear out. It's about wearing what makes you feel good, not what makes other people comfortable.
Confidence is looking at people when you walk around and making connections with strangers, so that when they see you again, they'll remember you. It's about talking to the person next to you on the bus or in the elevator instead of pretending like you're texting something really important; we know you're not.
Confidence is about eating dinner with your guy friends and getting the burger that looks so good instead of getting a salad with dressing on the side because it's what you're "supposed" to eat. It's about finishing that bag of chips on the porch with your friends and not feeling one second of remorse. Most importantly, it's about eating in the present, not eating a cheeseburger and then worrying about it 5 hours later.
Confidence is about not worrying about the way your body looks when you run, because we all know that nobody looks good running, it's not just you. It's about grabbing weights in the male dominated weight room and working out the way you want to. Maybe even teach the boys a thing or two about proper form.
Confidence is about participating in class or speaking up at your job, without worrying about being an "overachiever." You have good ideas, share them. Confidence is about building proactive relationships with professors in order to gain the most from your college experience.
Confidence is about applying your makeup in the morning, because it makes you feel good, not because you think you are going to scare someone. And if you do, good. They'll know not to mess with a bad-ass b***h like you.
Confidence is about treating your body right. If your stomach is growling, feed it. Don't starve yourself, because you think others will treat you differently if you lost a few pounds. Your worth is not dictated by the amount of calories you take in. You are the only one that has to love your body forever. Learn to love it, it's not going anywhere.
Confidence happens when you stop comparing yourself to others around you. If we were all the same, our lives would be pretty damn boring. It's about trying new things, stepping out of your comfort zone, and living life the way you want to live it. Most importantly, it's about making your own mold, instead of trying to fit into someone else's.
