What is your review of the Art of Living Retreat Center?

Even though it's in a gorgeous setting on top of a mountain, with expansive views and beautiful nature, my favorite thing about the retreat center would be the people. The best thing is the people because it attracts those who are interested in spirituality and personal growth. That always stands out in Art of Living reviews; the people and their commitment to growth.

I’ve seen all kinds of experiences happen here, from the very simple to the cosmic. I think what most touches me are the acts of kindness that occur on a minute-by-minute basis; the feeling of community and togetherness. I think that’s one of the most important things that people experience here. They feel like they’re welcome and in a kind and supportive environment.

I feel a sense of belonging. Feeling like you belong helps everyone to have a better experience and to go deeper with their practices and growth. It’s just easier and quicker to drop in and go deep. It’s very easy to come and sit and go deep into your true nature. You become more yourself.

The physical environment is so conducive to growth. There’s so much space and vastness. You can look over the mountains and look out for 30 miles. When you look out over the mountains your mind expands. That expansion basically helps the mind to expand when you sit to meditate. It creates an environment for diving deep and experiencing your true nature. I think our mind expands naturally just by being in this peaceful, expansive environment, and that carries over to when we actually do our techniques and do our meditations.

It's incredible to have a place in North America that’s devoted to spiritual growth with the teachings of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Just knowing that there's a retreat center like this here I think allows everybody to feel that there’s a touchstone for spirituality and personal growth. It’s incredible to have this touchstone within driving distance of my home, and I think is a comfort and support to spiritually-minded people all over the country.

Being here I feel more expansive. I feel more positive. I feel there's more life-force energy in the air here. My meditation is deeper and I feel more in the present moment.

When we come here we're a fish in the water that recognizes all the fish swimming in the same direction as we are. And that makes it much easier for us to do the things that we always wanted to do. Everyone here has the same goal—to evolve towards who they really are, and in doing so they see the opportunity to help others evolve too.

I feel totally at home here. Like I belong, and this is a place that I want to come to when I want to touch in with myself.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
