Have you ever been surrounded by around 500 family members? Do you even have 500 family members? Well, Greek ones of course.
With 9 Delta Zeta chapters visiting LSU, the amount of love and support felt two weekends ago was truly a success. This year's Region XI Region Weekend was held here at LSU, put on by our Sigma Chapter of The Delta Zeta Sorority.
Region weekend is held at LSU every three years, and this year was nothing short of AM-ΔZ-ING! Delta Zeta girls from chapters across the Southwest, including Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas and Oklahoma, gathered at the LSU Student Union on Saturday, February 21st to hear motivational speakers, successful alumna, heart-filled sisterhood stories and philanthropic event stories of many chapters. We then all participated in making Easter crafts for children at LSU's local philanthropies, The Emerge Center and St.Lilian's Academy, which was founded by a Delta Zeta alumna here in Baton Rouge.
The day also included Delta Zeta merchandise being sold and auctioned, roses given to current seniors as they journey towards being alumni and an awards ceremony to honor those who have gone above and beyond in our region. We ended Saturday night with a "Hike for Hearing," as we walked together for our philanthropies, and finished the night with dinner and mingling inside the Sigma chapter house.
Learning even more about our local and national philanthropies, and gaining new friendships while rekindling old, made this weekend such a success. Myself and others are even more proud to say, "I'm a DZ girl from LSU!"
