Made popular by Leslie Knope on "Parks and Recreation," Galentine’s Day is a day to come together with your best girlfriends and celebrate how much you love each other.

You can find plenty of ideas for hosting a great Galentine’s Day party online, but here are five great ways to get together as a group, without having to host anything major in your own space.

1. Brunch

Brunch. The OG way to celebrate Galentine’s Day. As Leslie Knope taught us, Galentine’s Day is the best holiday of the year, and you already know she’s celebrating it over breakfast foods. Everyone loves brunch, Galentine’s Day is the perfect place to come together and possibly exchange personalized gifts.

2. Secret Valentine

Everyone knows how Secret Santa works, but it’s not a secret that it’s generally not at a convenient time. Trying to manage the Christmas season is tough enough, and let’s not even mention how stressful Secret Santa can be when your get together falls during finals week. Skip that all together and do a secret gift exchange on Valentine’s Day instead. (There will be better deals on candy and we all know that that’s more important than stocking stuffers.)

3. Have a night out

A typical Valentine’s Day stereotypically includes a nice dinner at a romantic restaurant. But there is no reason Galentine’s Day needs to be so classy.

4. Have a good old fashion slumber party

Slumber parties are still fun. If you live in a dorm, blow up air mattresses in your common room. If you’re an actual adult, do the same thing in your friend’s apartment. A real sleepover includes watching girl power classic, "The Cheetah Girls," and can now also include wine.

5. Treat Yo' Self

Shop, go to an expensive workout class, make a reservation at the restaurant you’ve been wanting to try out for while. Galentine’s Day is a time to treat yourselves to something other than the usual group outing. It is a holiday after all.

The best part about Galentine’s Day is the fact that it is not meant to replace Valentine’s Day. It’s not supposed to be a collection of your single friends lamely crying because they have nobody to go out with on Feb. 14. Think of it as a way to appreciate some of your best friends, whom you may otherwise take for granted.

Happy Galentine’s Day!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
