'90s Beauty Trends We Still Love

It was a simpler time.

Ah, the 1990s: a decade full of girly pop music, classic sitcoms, saxophone-playing presidents and Tamigotchis. It was a simpler time, one when you could come home from school, take out your butterfly clips and turn to MTV to watch some Spice Girls music videos. And while there are some beauty and fashion trends of the decade that we'd like to forget (skinny eyebrows, baby buns and parachute pants—oh my!), many of the decade's best looks are making a comeback, and girls across the country are proudly embracing them while simultaneously giving them their own personal touch. So get out that dark lipstick and blue eyshadow, it's time to step into a beauty time machine.

1. Brown lipstick

This look could seen all over the red carpet in the 1990s, especially being paired with bold lip liner. Now we can thank Kylie Jenner for it's revival. She's been seen rocking the shade and even has her own matte brown color called True Brown K, available in the Kylie Lip Kit.

2. Blue eyeshadow

We've come a long way since the days of just covering your eyelid in a single frosty blue shade. Now there are plenty of electric blue shades available from brands such as Kat Von D Beauty and Urban Decay cosmetics. To revamp this look, try using a royal blue with silver and gray tones to highlight the crease and inner corner of your eye like YouTube's Trisha Paytas does.

3. Crimped hair

We know what you're thinking, "is crimped hair really back in style?" The answer is yes! It may not be Iike you remember it, but using a larger crimping iron like the Bed Head Deep Waver anyone can achieve voluminous, wavy, hair. It's like the crimped hair of the '90s, just a little less uptight.

4. Baby braids

These cute braids are perfect for festival season or just to accent your everyday hairstyle. They're quick and easy to do, making them perfect for a busy school day. Don't feel the need to go overboard like Christina Aguilera, just a few poking out underneath straight strands adds a nice touch.

5. Serious side parts

We can'tall be supermodels like Cindy Crawford, but tossing all your hair to one side is a good start! Whether your tresses are pin straight or naturally curly, brush them out and make a deep side part for a look that's every bit dramatic as it is natural and flirty.

6. Sky blue nails

Blue Hard Candy nail polish was an essential in every teens life in the 1990s, and while the shade is still bubbly and beautiful, it could use an upgrade. Instead of simply painting on a coat of the shade, find a nail specialist and get today's all-the-rage look of almond shaped nails.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
