My baseball coach once gave a piece of advice that is now the core of who I am. He told me, “Success is not owned, it is rented. And the rent is due every day.” Unfortunately, I didn’t follow that advice during my first semester of college. I slacked off, missed class, and ended up with a 2.33 GPA. I knew I had the talent, because I had a 4.75 GPA in high school, but I failed to put in the work necessary to become successful. Through my struggles academically, I realized that I was being called to do more. I feel like I am supposed to reach out to those that are struggling and to be a voice for those who do not have one. I believe that my generation needs to be heard and that my stories and views on politics, social issues, and my college experience can be a source of advice, inspiration, and comfort to those and need.
