Nia Ross

I am the acting president of Marginalized Voices in Film and Media at Augsburg College. Our group works to raise awareness of voices that are often viewed as supplementary in major media outlets. We believe that everyone deserves a voice and representation in media. I'm also a budding Black Feminist and am working on starting a Black Feminist in Media (B-FEM) student organization this fall. I'm learning to tap into my #BlackGirlMagic and hopefully inspire other Black women to discourage self-hate. I also love humor and laughter--it's one of my main components in a lot of my writing (I think it helps readers digest important, but often difficult, subjects.) I'd love to write for the Odyssey because I think it's a great opportunity and a wonderful platform with which to associate my writing--it would honestly be an honor. I also really enjoy writing and am always looking for a way to improve; I think this would also be an amazing opportunity in that sense.
