My name is Monti, and I'm a sophomore in college. I have four cats, a twin brother, and an unhealthy affinity for macaroni and cheese. I am someone who enjoys writing and experiencing the world of story-telling, whether I am the one telling a story or taking in the narrative myself through reading or listening. I have always loved languages and how words work-- I constantly spent time as a child browsing the dictionary because it thrilled me so much to learn new words and then attempt to impress people at my school with the new additions to my vocabulary. Though not fluent, I have been studying Spanish for nearly eight years and have just begun my second year of education in Arabic. When I graduate-- or, to be perfectly optimistic, perhaps even before then-- I would like to say that I've written and published the novel that I've been writing-- and daydreaming about in math class-- since I was fifteen years old, as well as developed enough skill in other languages to accurately call myself multilingual. At UNH, I was in the school's literary magazine club as well as the poetry club for a succinct amount of time last year but didn't quite feel as though the club was as well-formed as it could have been due to budget issues and a lack of members, which made the experience in those clubs less fruitful than I thought it could have been. I'm hoping that by joining an organization like Odyssey Online could assist me in finding people with similar interests that I can connect with in an easier way than with those in those other clubs, as well as serve as important first-hand experience that further guides me in my education and preparation for my career.
