Luceat lux vestra (lu-lu-ve). Latin for 'let your light shine.'

When I was little, one of my favorite songs to sing was "This Little Light of Mine." I loved to imagine that there was a small, candle-like flame that extended from my index finger while I sang out with my whole heart that "I was gonna let it shine!" My dad also often told me before I left for school in the morning "to be a light."

The question is what is my light and how do I let it shine? The light that I sang about when I was little I believe refers to one's skills, talents, and beliefs, and the light my dad was referring to when he told me "to be a light" was a light of positive influence. No two people have the same set of skills, talents, or beliefs. I have learned that every life, every person is precious and unique. Everyone is special and has their own light to shine.

In the mindset that everyone has a light to shine, my dream is to travel around the world meeting people and being inspired by every unique light I come in contact. I, myself, hope to be a positive influence with my own particular light.
