As someone who until recently had no direction in life, I realized the importance behind education and more importantly discovering the truth. After entering college and taking some history courses, I discovered that there is so much more to the reality of our history. Our history that was so skewed from what we learned in elementary and high school. The real horrors of American slavery. The truth of the many genocides in the world such as in the Congo of Africa, and the Armenian in Turkey. This is why I decided to become a history professor. In our modern society we can't trust many news stations to gives both sides of a story. The news has become so corrupt for views, that they have spoon fed our confirmation biases by telling the viewer only what we believe to be the truth. I want to give the perspective of the side of history we don't learn about in your everyday classroom.
