I would describe myself as any of the following: a bonafide bookworm, self-proclaimed nerd, Austenite, Whovian, make-up junkie, caffeine-addict, and cat-lover who enjoys a good conversation. I’m a city girl, a born-and-raised Brooklynite and New Yorker who loves indulging in a good story and helping others cultivate their writing and storytelling skills. A few years ago, I once fancied the idea of becoming a psychologist, but soon realized that my real passions lie in storytelling, publishing, and media design. Next thing I knew, I submitted my application and became a graduate student at The New School pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Media Studies and a Certificate in Media Management.
In my downtime, I love wandering into independent bookstores and stationary shops, going on long rambling walks through the city to explore different neighborhoods (and yes, even “romantic” walks on the beach, if you must), taking photos, writing poetry and personal essays, researching new restaurants and cafes, and working on my fitness regimen (so that I can eat brunch, dinner, and desserts with no regrets).
You can find me crafting new content and updating the social media outlets for the online magazine I founded and currently run as Editor-in-Chief: Verge of Verse. I can also be found snapping photos on Snapchat (@jdayignacio) and Instagram (@vergeofverse), or chilling out at a cafe or park as I write down my discoveries and chronicle my adventures in the city.
