Julia Holcomb

To be honest I am a simple Caucasian American girl that goes to college because that's all I know. Growing up it was never an option to not attend college because I come from a middle/high class town where that's just what everyone does after high school. What makes me different from so many people is that my life revolves around the people around me. My goal in life is to simply make my family proud and make my friends happy. My grandfather had a big influence on my life and his passing caused me to see that the time we have on this earth is limited so we must embrace every moment like its our last. Although such a cheesy saying it's true and not many people actually follow it. That all being said I would like to write for The Odyssey because I believe I have many thoughts, opinions and experiences that would contribute greatly. As I read each article being reposted on Facebook I think to myself "I could write something like this". My compassionate nature has opened my eyes to all things around me and writing about them is just the start to my life and my contribution to this world. As my grandfather would say "carpe diem". in English "seize the day" or from autocorrect "carpet denim".
