Jacqueline Helbig

As a graduating high school senior, I haven't had any experience in journalism yet. However, throughout high school, I've used every opportunity I've been given to learn more about what is most important to me and my peers. I've completed papers on sexism in college and career-level science, presentations on local startups, and surveys regarding the upcoming presidential election. I will be attending UC Berkeley this fall, a school known for its political and social activism, and I intend to participate in the tradition. I find the Odyssey platform to be accessible and geared toward young people, which is exactly what my generation and the millennial generation needs. In a time when we're so heavily criticized for being who we are, I think that the Odyssey provides a safe zone, where our issues and opinions can be taken solely as ours. I have a lot to write about, and I think that my voice reflects that of many of my peers. Therefore, I would like to share it with them.
