Elyssa Hawkins

I have enthusiasm unlike any other, I strive to achieve my goals and constantly place myself in a mindset to accomplish those goals. I have career aspirations to work in the USA Water Polo Communications department, as well as take part with other major athletic organizations. I am also currently striving to have and maintain a well-rounded GPA so I may enroll in an excellent Media/Journalism program for Graduate Studies. I want to write for The Odyssey, because my current college experience has been to say the least an experience. It's important to display and provide wisdom, advice and even an occasional laugh to someone who has doubts going into college, want guidance, find a means to feel positive or even a combination of all three. My experience as a member of residence life and an RA has provided me with skills to help relate to students who may have a hard time coping with settling into a new chapter, and my experience with the water polo team has taught me that the lowest and the highest points matter equally. It's also taught me that I can choose who I want to be friends with, but it won't change the fact that we're still family. I am also one who won't shy away from feedback, because I understand that while it may not always be positive, there is always room for growth, and as long as that chance for growth is accepted, a better person can be formed. I am also always one to be excited about newfound experiences and collaborating with a wide variety of people.
