My name is Emily Anderson. I'm from Upstate New York; and not the "45 minutes north of the city" Upstate New York, the "I live in the Adirondack Mountains, 20 minutes south of the Canadian border" Upstate New York. I love cold winters, snowy ski slopes, and hot drinks. Since moving to outside of Philadelphia I've come to love big cities, Reading Terminal Market, and the people you can only find in such an urban place, but the ADKs will always be my home.
As a six-foot-tall woman, my life can hardly be considered normal but I have coped with this the only way I know how, through sports. I've tried everything from tee ball to modified soccer to swim clubs and beyond. In the end however, I am a center-forward (basketball,) a right side hitter (volleyball,) and a thrower (track and field.)
This being said, I would not consider myself a jock. I love to paint flowers, and write poems. Although I gave up organized singing, I'm an alto with a passion for sad songs written in minor keys. I can quote Harry Potter word for word, and I'm a sucker for the new Star Trek movies. Most of all, I'm a cultural anthropology major who loves to interact with all sorts of people. "When I grow up" I hope to attain a teaching degree and work as an elementary school teacher.
To me, life is simple. I want to do what I love, make a difference in peoples' lives, and eventually leave the world with no regrets, and a million good memories.
