Daniel Lang

I am a community-oriented student journalist and a photographer, son of a farmer who became an army doctor and an immigrant who left China after the Chinese Revolution; I hail from both the soft woods of quaint, southern Indiana and the 24/7 neon glitz of Las Vegas, Nevada. In life, I've dedicated myself to leading youths to success. After my experiences having engaged in community service throughout junior high and high school and having helped clubs and organizations learn to promote their causes, I have found myself as one who enjoys writing about the subcultures, the disadvantaged, the unorthodox; I write about the experiences few go through that all too many more just cast aside with assumptions. I believe helping others to recognize their fellow human beings as just that: fellow, human beings. As a writer for the Odyssey, I aspire to continue writing about the topics that matter, the topics so often overlooked by the publishers. I have seen time and time again Odyssey stories appear throughout my Facebook and other newsfeeds, and I have come to recognize the Odyssey as a platform where real change can happen. By working with the Odyssey, I hope to further my own professional skills as a social media-savy student, and I will endeavor to continue to tell the stories of those who have yet to be heard.
