My name is Azita Rahebi and I have recently survived my first quarter at UC Irvine. I have to admit, the transition was not as easy as TV and the movies make it out to be but I survived, and I’d like to give a special thanks to the social media outlets that helped me along the way. I did understand how impactful watching the news and frequenting my favorite social media outlets were until I got through the first two weeks of school and realized that I had no idea what was going on in the world beyond going to class and doing assignments. I believe online social media and news outlets is what helps keep people in my generation in touch with the world. As much as the older generations want to peg us as a group of “self-involved” kids, Millennial’s crave the knowledge of what is happening in the world around them, and it would be an honor to be a part of a team that brings the world news to them at The Odyssey.
I believe working at The Odyssey will help me further develop my skills as a writer and it will also provide me the opportunity to share my unique perspective. Aside from writing, I also have acquired some self-taught Photoshop skills that allow me to create original visuals to accompany my writings.
