My name is Avery and I am a sophomore at Ripon College, which is a small liberal arts school in Wisconsin. I am originally from northern Illinois and am an all around Chicago sports team fan. I love wiener dogs, double stuffed oreos, speaking publicly and making others laugh. I love spending my free time with my friends and family, as well as binging Disney movies while munching on some Nacho Cheese Bugles. I have always loved writing, even at a very young age. Everyone in my class in elementary school wanted to be ballerinas and cowboys, while I always wanted to be a writer. Although, my passion ended up moving more towards theatre and public speaking, there has always a piece of me that found satisfaction in putting "fingers to keyboard" and writing about topics I am passionate about. It is a great confidence builder and has always made me believe that my opinion is valuable, even at such a young age. I believe that is what Odyssey does for college students. It gives us a place where we can establish our voice and have it be heard and read by our peers that see credibility in our work. Being able to discuss ideas with people who are in the same stages of life as you is much easier at times than having to discuss it through a whole generational gap. So being able to be published on a site that creates a network for emerging adults like myself to communicate ideas and issues within our world would be more than an honor and privilege.
