Ashley Callahan

Hi! My name is Ashley and I am currently a fifth year Communication Studies major with an emphasis in Dramatic Arts. I am incredibly passionate about learning. I love to read, discuss issues close to my heart, and relate to others in things that I find interesting. I grew up in Carmel, Ca but relocated to Visalia with my family about seven years ago. The first thing you should know about me is that I am a huge nerd. I enjoy playing video games like League of Legends, the Bioshock series, Borderlands, and most importantly, the Legend of Zelda series! I also enjoy reading comic books and various pieces of literature. I remember falling in love with works such as Dante's Inferno, Brave New World, The Odyssey, and Shakespeare when I was in high school. I found my passion for writing when I was about fourteen years old. It was around this time that I began writing short stories for The Institute of Children't Literature, located in Connecticut. Eventually, I started to write poetry and short stories that were more along the lines of adult related content. I have about 80 pieces of work posted online at deviantart.com and plan to publish a small book of everything I have so far. I also love acting, singing, and performing. From the time I was about five years old to eighteen, I danced at both the Carmel Academy of Performing Arts as well as Sierra Performing Arts studio in Visalia. I have also been in about fifteen different stage productions from the time I was sixteen until now. My top three out of all of those would have to be Urinetown, Jekyll and Hyde the Musical, and The Diary of Anne Frank. A side note; my all time favorite musical ever is The Phantom of the Opera. Christine Daae is my ultimate dream role. As far as my future goes, I have no idea what God has planned for me or what my purpose is just yet. I plan to continue my education and pursue my Master's degree in Communication Studies. I'd like to travel and desire to intern somewhere post grad.
