André Mileti

I'm a filmmaker and essayist active in creative film work and criticism. I've studied film at UNC-Asheville and the University of Toronto but also approach cinema from a multicultural perspective as my major has allowed me to live abroad in Peru and Spain. I've had several movie blogs, but I'm interested in working with The Odyssey as a platform to impart my filmic expertise to a larger audience. As someone who voraciously watches movies and also has professional experience in the industry (I worked on Nicolas Winding Refn's last film as a production assistant), I can provide a nuanced look on the current state of cinema in addition to my opinions on new releases. And lastly, as someone who loves Akira Kurosawa's HIGH AND LOW about as much as SPACE JAM, I provide a cineaste's knowledge with a down-to-earth attitude in my writing. My film criticism is intelligent but accessible and would make a great addition to your publications.
