A few months ago I applied to be a writer on Odyssey because I wanted to take on a new challenge, one that could help me improve as a writer, and hopefully, as a person. But before I expect you to read my pieces, no matter what the topic, I feel like you should know a little bit about me, at least enough to decide if you want to invest your time in what I value, think and write.
My name is Ali. Actually Alison, but people only really address me like that if I’m in trouble. I’m going into my junior year at New York University and couldn’t be happier with the way that NYU allows me to be a student and feel like a person in the real world at the same time. I went into college thinking I’d become a psychology/adolescent mental studies major, and now I’m halfway through thinking I’ll become a sports marketing major, so you’ll just have to stay with me while I figure it out.
Evidently, I love sports – playing them, watching them, talking about them. And it’s not only to watch sexy guy’s sweat glisten down their bulging biceps throughout the 90 minutes on the soccer field, or to see how nice Eric Decker’s butt looks in his green and white spandex on Sundays (needless to say, I’m a Jets fan!). It’s the passion, the loyalty and the comradery that sports bring along.
I also love music – pop, rock, country, you name it! If I can find it on ultimateguitar (musicians: first tip of advice you take from me – look it up!) and play it, I’m an automatic fan. Oddly, I also bartend, though I’m not 21 until June 18th (presents welcome!).
I’m a Love Your Melon student ambassador, which basically means I get to fundraise, wear really cool LYM clothing and visit children with cancer in a superhero outfit – that’s pretty much as far as my superpowers go. But now this is starting to sound resume-esque so let’s talk about something more fun.
My guilty pleasures include watching The Bachelor on Monday nights, face-timing my puppy back home (I swear he understands me!) and baking cupcakes. But back to that first one, seriously, if any of y’all want to talk bachelor draft picks, I’m your girl!
So, as you can tell, I’ve got a pretty wide array of interests. I have days where I feel like dressing in heels and going on dates (an issue for a whole new article, promise!), days where I feel like wearing my jeans and converse, and days when I don’t feel like getting out of my pajamas at all, but I’ll be sure to include it all and maybe even some pictures here. So stay tuned!
