One of the reasons I loved being the listicles editor was because I had the freedom to write the type of articles that I enjoy, conversational pieces. I absolutely love showing my voice in my writing. I like to make my readers feel as if they are sitting down and having a cup of coffee with me listening to me chat instead of staring at a blank screen, feeling disconnected from my words as if I were lecturing them.
Since the Odyssey has such a large collegiate audience, I feel like conversational writing would be a very effective approach to appeal to readers. I've already seen the same approach and its positive effects through many Odyssey contributors.
Through my writing, I would love to relate to my peers in colleges not only close to my own school but across the nation and possibly even the world.
I already have many story ideas that I would like to write on. One of them is about being a "Super Senior." A super senior is a person who is spending a fifth year in college. In my first article, I would mention this and talk about how it's really difficult to see my class graduate but why, at the same time, I am grateful for the extra year. I feel like being a "super senior" is something many students can relate to.
