Two Types Of Sundays

You always want the one you're not having.

There are two types of Sundays. Whenever you are having one, you wish that you were having the other because somehow the other always seems more appealing when you are not having that one. But isn't that how it always goes, you always want what you can't have? And hindsight is 20/20 and all those other clichés.

The first type is the kind that you do not even think about setting an alarm because you goal is to do absolutely nothing. You wake up at your leisure and eventually you make your way to the kitchen or the dining hall and get some breakfast. You might even be able to consider it lunch by the time you get there. Once you finish eating, you mosey on over to the couch or back to your bed and make yourself comfortable in front of the TV or your laptop, whichever is your entertainment of choice.

Eventually a nap will occur and probably end up being one of those naps when you wake up, you question how long you have been sleeping and where you are. But you don't even bat an eye at it because there is nothing to do, it is Sunday after all. The rest of the day will be just about as lazy as the rest of it. Maybe you will go out and get some coffee or do some shopping, but most likely, you are not going to move from your current location until it is time to eat dinner.

The second type of Sunday is the one we all have a love/hate relationship with. It is the productive Sunday. You set an alarm to get up, it may not be as early as during the week, but you are still getting up on your day off. You start by having breakfast and a ton of coffee because there is a whole list of things that you need to get done today.

You start with putting on laundry, and then while that is being done you begin to clean up your room from the mess it turned into during the week, because lets face it, you don't have the time to keep up with it during the week. Then, once the laundry is done, you put it all away and organize your dressers and your closet. Once all the laundry is done and your room is clean you being to get a head start on all of your work for the week, maybe you even plan out a schedule for the week.

No matter what type of Sunday we are having, there will always be part of us wishing we were having the other type, Yes, you lying on the couch wants to be productive, and you over there cleaning away, wants to binge watch Netflix. Just make sure that you have yourself a balance of the two.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
