The dreaded "freshman 15" is always on the minds of incoming college students because almost everyone you tell you're going to college, they have the sudden urge to tell you you're going to gain weight. Inevitably, you will more than likely gain weight. Is it from the unhealthy caf food or from never exercising while simultaneously eating Cook Out everyday... it's def the caf food's fault, right? Anyways, here are some truths behind the causes of the freshman 15.
1. You have literally no time to work out.
When you have class 18 hours a week and then clubs on top of that, on top of homework, and sleep, and social time.... there's no time left to dedicate to cardio.
2. The caf has veggies, but the pizza bar is way more appealing.
This one explains itself. In a world where our options are pizza, cereal, or those weird green leafy things, we will choose pizza every time. (Unless the cereal is Lucky Charms..)
3. Stress.
Lets face it, most of us eat and sleep and have no motivation when we are stressed.. none of these things help much with our "beach bods".
4. Cook out, Chick fil A, Waffle House...
God's gift to the broke, tired, and stressed out college student.
5. You used to be way more active in high school.
In high school, you more than likely played some type of sport.. then you went to college and didn't expect for neglecting exercise to affect you that much.
6. Your metabolism is beginning its quick decline.
When you were 17 you could eat 3 large pepperoni pizzas without blinking an eye and probably burn calories in the process. Now, you're 21 and questioning whether or not you should even eat 2 slices.
7. Your mini fridge is too small for an entire pint of ice cream...
So you have to eat it all at once. It's a rule somewhere I'm sure.
No matter the weight you gain or lose or maintain during school, embrace that college bod, guys. One day we will be 50 years old reminiscing on how hot we were back in the day.
