In modern TV shows, there seems to be a progressing abundance of strong female characters. Why shouldn't there be? Females are obviously the dominant sex! I find that these characters kickass attitudes can be inspiring and influential in any girls life! Therefore, I believe these characters deserve a little recognition.

1. Olivia Benson

Seventeen seasons in and still going strong. Olivia Benson started off as one of the detectives for the Special Victim Unit who worked her way up to the top as her current status of Lieutenant. Well, Liv has been and seen through it all kidnapped, assaulted and she also almost got killed a couple of times. She is a survivor! She’s America's favorite cop!

2. Sydney Bristow

Bristow is a hard core agent who thinks she works for the CIA, but she quickly learns she does not actually work for the CIA. She was hired by a worldwide criminal and espionage organization who made her think she worked for the CIA. Bristow turns into a double agent for the real CIA. I know it is crazy. She has saved the world numerous amount of times and still looking sexy while doing it.

3. Cristina Yang

Also known as a badass Cardio God. She served us a wonderful 10 seasons until her ex boyfriend who left her at the altar asked her to go run a hospital in Switzerland! We are all just grateful Shonda Rhimes, the creator of "Grey's Anatomy" kept her alive. Actually, there was that one time where she had to operate while a gun was held up to her head, oh, and that other time she survived that terrible plane crash. I think it was definitely about time she got out while she still could.

4. Buffy Summers

Buffy Summers, you know, is your average teenage girl who also happens to have the unique job of vampire slaying. Not to mention she died twice and still managed to have a sharp and perky personality! While dealing with normal teenager problems like juggling grades, a social life and boys, she still had time to save the world a countless number of times. You go, girl!

5. Debra Morgan

Deb is a hard-working cop for Miami - Metro in the homicide department, who eventually gets promoted to a detective's position (something she's wanted throughout her whole career!) and later lieutenant because of her tenacity and workaholic attitude. But achieving lieutenant was something she never saw coming. Debra tells it how it is, and she isn't scared of anybody! She's a badass cop with a potty mouth who solves murders in very cute heels. Not to mention, she's a sister to a extremely successful serial killer named Dexter.

RBF
Pop Trigger / YouTube

I'll admit it, I have a condition called RBF or, if you will, Resting Bitch Face.

Anna Kendrick, poor Kristen Stewart, the Queen of England are all life-long sufferers of RBF. Victoria Beckham even made a career out of it! And though it's usually used to describe women, some men are also afflicted. Kanye West is the best example of this.

April Ludgate
NBC Universal

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
