To my family at my home away from home,

Thank you for pushing me these past couple of years. Without you I would not be who I am today and making the moves I am today. Having a support system from you guys has been amazing these past years, but sadly it is my time to leave the nest and graduate from high school. I will always come visit and see you when possible.

To my brothers and sisters who have a while to go,

Hang in there - you can do this, I have faith in you, and all that. I know we heard this a million times before, but you can do it, and I do have faith in you. Take every good day in stride and make every day the best you can. You have all taught me something while at school. Call me when you need words of encouragement, when you need help on your homework, whenever. I still love you guys I just have to graduate so you get your day sometime soon.

To the seniors who are graduating,

I know you want to get to the end and just be free, but take it all in, remember everything because soon your firsts are going to end and all of your lasts will be gone. In less than a year you will be out and won't live here any more. Soon you will be away at college and won't get to see your family here. Take every day you can and try and see everyone who has helped you at least twice this year. Above all, make this year memorable.

To my moms, dads, aunts, uncles, and grandparents that have helped me here,

Thank you so much. I cannot stop saying that all of you have helped me tremendously. You have all helped guide me through teaching me in class, the student home, on the field, on the stage, both inside and outside the classroom. You have all helped me whether a teacher, advisor, administrator, house parent, or anyone who came in contact with me. Each of you has taught me something and I am extremely grateful for it. Thank you for treating me like your own, taking me under your wings, and getting me ready for leaving our little bubble. Thank you a million times over.

To my alumni family,

Wow, I am unable to fathom how many of us there are. I am truly grateful for all the help you have or will give me. Thank you for caring so much for me even though I did not know you. I cannot wait to get to meet some of you when I come to events when ever possible.

Thank you,

Your extended family member

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
