“Side by side or miles apart, sisters will always be connected by heart.”
I think it’s safe to say that if you have a sister, you’ve probably seen this quote a thousand time. So here I am, using it for the thousand and one times. This quote has always been close to my heart because I believe it’s so true. My sister is my best friend. She’s the one I can go to for literally anything. Whether I’m at home or at college, she’s always there for me, even when I can’t be there for myself. She’s understanding of situations and doesn’t judge. She knows all the right ways to cheer me up. She’s honestly the funniest person I’ve ever met. She can make me laugh for hours. She was my first best friend and will be my last.
Thank you for playing countless hours of Barbie’s, house, and American girl dolls with me. Those memories of us playing are the memories that I will cherish forever. Thank you for going on countless adventures with me and then probably getting in trouble. I can always count on you to be there. You are kind hearted, compassionate, caring, hilarious, stubborn, short-tempered, hot-headed and athletic (I know you’d want me to say something about how you’re more athletic than me but that’s not true so I’ll just say that you’re athletic.)
All these things make up who you are and that’s why I love you. Yes, we fight at least once or twice a day, mostly about clothes, but there’s no one else I’d rather fight. Because truth be told, we usually get over it within 20 minutes and end up laughing about how dumb we are for fighting.
There’s no one else I could imagine being my sister beside you. We don’t look alike at all, but we get asked if we are twins on the daily and usually when people tell us that, I get flattered. I’m like, “wow people think I look like my sister, that rocks because she’s so beautiful.” I take it as a compliment when people tell us we look alike.
You’ve grown up into such a beautiful young woman. I’m so proud to call you my sister. You’ve gone through trials and tribulations, but you have conquered through them all. You have certain confidence and strength in you that I wish to have one day. You can talk to just about anyone, and they automatically like you.
You may be my little sister, but I still look up to you. I still consider you as one of my role models. I always will. Thank you for being my support system, my partner in crime, my best friend and my person. I don’t know how some people get through life without a sister because I can’t even imagine mine without you.
I love you, sissy.
