Every college girl knows we spend countless hours searching for the perfect filter before uploading a new picture to Instagram. I mean how many times have you put your friends through the misery of having to choose between five filters that make you look the perfect shade of naturally (but not actually) tan? We all strive to find that perfect balance on our filters to make the lighting look perfect in our photos. We only insta a few times a week, so you better believe we make sure they look ~flawless~ when finally put up to be scrutinized by our thousands of folllowers. Here are some of my go to filters that never fail to make my pictures look Instagram, Facebook and Twitter worthy!

1. Afterlight

The app that can do it all my friends, Afterlight is my first stop on my pre-insta journey. This app really has everything; you can crop, rotate, add filters, saturation, contrast and just about anything else you can think of all in this app. It has a huge variety of filters to choose from, no matter what kind of vibe you’re trying to portray in your pictures. It also has the unique film feature, something I have never seen on another editing app. This let’s you add interesting lighting effects on your pictures, and leaves them looking super artsy.

2. VSCO

This is another super popular editing app used among college students! On VSCO, not only can you edit photos, but it’s also another form of social media to upload photos to. However, you don’t have the pressure of getting likes on these pictures, so it’s a great place to post all versions of your photo op that didn’t make the Instagram cut!

3. Aviary

Last but certainly not least, the Aviary app. It’s not quite as well known, but definitely still a great option. This app is awesome because it allows you to do away with red eye and whiten those teeth, something other apps do not usually offer. You can even add stickers and text, fun! In addition to all these fun features, it still offers all the standard filters and brightness options like other editing apps.
