Thoughts You Have When Coming Home To Your Dog
Erin Kelly

When you leave for college, you leave a lot of things behind. You leave your family, friends, friends of friend, but most importantly you leave your dog. Leaving your dog is by far the hardest moment when leaving for college but the best reunion you'll have. Here are some of the thoughts that could be going through your head when coming home to your furry, four-pawed friend.

1. "I can't wait to get home to see my dog."

2. "I'm never going to let him go."

3. "I'll have to apologize over and over for leaving him for so long."

4. "I wonder how much he's grown since I last saw him."

5. "When was the last time my dog saw me?"

6. "What if he doesn't remember me!"

7. "I have to look at all the photos of my dog right now."

8. "Ugh, he's so cute!"

9. "I can't wait to love him, and hug him, and never let him."

10. "I wonder if my dog and I will have a reunion like the ones military members have with their dogs."

11. "I have to look up these videos now."

12. "Yep, that's definitely going to be us."

13. "I'm going to make a collage of pictures of my dog for Instagram."

14. "And then I'll make one of all the photos I'm going to take with him/ of him when I get home."

15. "We're pulling into the driveway! I can see him in the window!"

16. "OMG, I'm going to cry."

17. "He saw me! He's going crazy!"

18. "Dad, open the door faster, I want my dog."

19. "Yes! Dog, I'm home!"

20. "Yes! Give me all the doggy kisses."

21. "Don't leave me to say hi to my dad!"

22. "I thought what we had was special!"

23. "Come back here and love me!"

24. "You're back!"

25. "Hold still so I can take a picture!"

26. "Stop running around, dog!"

27. "Yes, I finally got a picture!"

28. "Now let me hug and love you!"

29. "No, I don't want to play right now, I just want to love you."

30. "And you've grown bored of me already."

31. "Can we at least take a picture together?"

32. "I love you little buddy; I missed you so much."

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
