16 Things All Girls With Older Brothers Know To Be True

Older brothers are the best. And being the only girl with older brothers is even better. They teach you so much...from how to fight, to how to stick up for yourself, to showing you how a real man should act, and so much more. Sure, they can pick on you sometimes (well, maybe all the time), but in the end, they're always there for you. Sometimes I wonder what life would have been like growing up with sisters instead of brothers, but I'm convinced I got the best end of the deal by having two older brothers. My older brothers are the best. I can always go to them for advice, they always cheer me up, and I love them so much. If you also grew up as the only girl with older brothers, I'm sure you can relate to these things...

1. They taught you how to stick up for yourself.

Just because I'm a girl doesn't mean that they are going to go easy on me...whether we were wrestling when we were younger, playing basketball in the driveway, or whatever it may have been. I learned how to be tough.

2. You learned what being protective meant.

A boy likes you? Good luck, they have to make it through your older brothers first.

3. You became an expert at yelling, "Mom!" when you were a kid.

For all the many times you got picked on.

4. You know more about sports than the average girl.

Chances are, you had to sit through years of basketball, football, baseball and golf tournaments.

5. You knew what was cool before all of your friends did.

If you had an older brother, you knew all the cool high school trends when you were just in elementary school.

6. You stole their clothes.

A lot of people think this is something that only sisters do to their sisters...but I've been known to steal several comfy t-shirts and sweatshirts from my big brothers.

7. Your first crush may have been one of your brothers' friends.

And conversely, your friends may have had crushes on your brothers as well.

8. Being the only girl, you were (and still are) definitely the princess of the family.

Growing up in a house full of boys is tough!

9. They always knew how to make you laugh.

And when I say laugh, I mean laugh a lot.

10. No matter what sport you were playing, your brother became the coach.

They taught you [almost] everything you know.

11. You never ran faster than when you were trying to beat one of your brothers to the shower.

"I'm getting in first!"

"No I'm getting in first!"

"I'm telling Mom!"

12. You got used to being referred to by teachers as "________'s little sister".

Yep, I am their little sister, and I'm proud of it!

13. You tried to force them to play dress up with you.

And sometimes, they agreed.

14. You learned how to wrestle and fight.

You had to learn how to fight back!

15. You had built-in best friends.

None of your friends could come over to hang out? That's okay, because you had best friends right there at your house 24/7.

16. They may not have been able to teach you how to do make-up or curl your hair, but they taught you so many important life lessons that you still carry with you today.

Austin and Crawford, y'all are the best!

eye roll

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.

15 Things That Happen On Your Birthday

Do you have a small get-together or throw a big bash?

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.
