The Positives And Negatives Of Fraternity Guys

Being in Greek life in college, you meet a lot of other people in other fraternities and sororities on campus. Sororities and fraternities have a reputation of their own, but being in Greek life, we understand one another. Sometimes.

One of the fun things about being in a sorority is of course sisterhood, but who doesn't like cute fraternity boys? Well, fraternity guys might be fun, and nice to look at, but they definitely have their negatives. And, also some positives. Now, of course this list does not include every frat guy out there, but it is more of a general list.

Negatives

They are way too conceited.

Frat guys definitely think that they are much cooler than they actually are. They walk around like they're Calvin Klein models when half of them are sporting the "dad bod" look. They seriously need to get over themselves.

They dress the same.

Now I know this could be said, and probably is said for sorority girls too, but seriously guys? When you all wear khaki shorts, high socks, Nikes, and of course a comfort colors T-shirt with your letters on it, we get tired of the seeing the same thing. Do you have anything else in your closet?

They think it is cool to be "eskimo brothers" or players.

If you don't know what that term means consider yourself lucky. Most fraternity guys are brainless when it comes to dating, or even the girl species, therefore that leads to many girls for one guy.

They act different around their brothers.

They could be the sweetest guy you think you've ever met. Always giving you compliments, opening doors, and taking you out for dinners. But, get them around their brothers and they instantly turn into an ignorant ball of raging testosterone.

They might as well have their chapter meetings at Alcoholics Anonymous.

Because lets face it, every Thursday, Saturday, and even some Fridays you can bet money that they are wasted. Whether they go to the bar, or host a crazy house party, their livers are definitely getting a workout during their college years.

Lastly, they're pretty judgmental.

Whether it is the fact that they only hang out with the "prettiest" sorority or they are making up rude nicknames for the less popular chapters, fraternity guys can just be cruel sometimes. And they wonder why they have a bad reputation.

There aren't always only negatives that go along with fraternities. They do have some positives.

Positives

They are loyal.

Whether that is just with their chapter, and or other parts of their lives, frat guys are taught to be loyal and that is something that they definitely know how to do.

They're nice to look at.

Let's face it girls, as annoying as they can be, they can be pretty attractive sometimes. Those khaki shorts and Nike's do look good every once in a while and knowing how to properly dress up and look nice is definitely a good quality to have.

They know how to have a good time.

Those raging college parties are where sorority sisters make some of their best memories. We love getting invited to parties with y'all because you guys know how to do it right. The trashcan punch and beer pong tournament is always something to look forward to.

They can be very down to earth.

Yes, sometimes they can be judgmental and rude, but when you find the group of the right fraternity guys, you will love hanging out with them. Kicking back with some pizza and a football game is something that they are pros at, and if you're lucky enough to find the right frat guy, he will let you take the biggest piece and cheer for the losing team.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
