Everyone has something they did in life that has an effect on who they are. For me, that thing is sports. At the age of 4, I began to play sports. Since then, they've been a big part of my life. Like most other kids, I played everything. Baseball, basketball, football, soccer, and volleyball. Although throughout my life I played those 5 sports, baseball always had my heart. It was the first sport I played and it was the sport I was best at. Playing 5 sports in my life really helped me become the person I am today, but baseball played a special role in that. Playing baseball had a huge role in my life . It taught me many things and shaped me into the person I am today. This sport provided me with countless life lesson, some of which I would have never thought would play the role they did. Baseball gave me role models to look up to, people to try to emulate. I built character through baseball with the help of a few special coaches. I gained what I think to be character traits necessary to be successful in life. These coaches taught me things on the field that translated off the field. I still carry these things with me to this day. Along with these things, the passion I had for the game became something much bigger. The passion I had for playing the game of baseball became the passion for what I want to do for the rest of my life. A sport that I began playing 15 years ago is one of the reasons I am going to school as a journalism major. It is one of the reasons I want to be a sports broadcaster. Baseball is one of the things that fuels me to get to where I want be. It is one of the the reasons I work as hard as I do. It is one of the reasons for my major, and for the school I go to. It is even one of the reasons I write these articles every week. I truly believe that if it wasn't for baseball, I wouldn't be who I am today. I wouldn't have the passion not only for baseball, but for all sports. I wouldn't have the drive I have to achieve my goals. I wouldn't have such a clear plan for my future. Baseball is one of the reasons I am where I am today. Looking back to when I began playing I would have never imagined that a sport would have such a profound effect on me. I wouldn't have even thought a sport had the ability to have such an effect on someone, but it did. I can confidently say, thanks to baseball I know I have the tools neccesary to be successful in my life.
