The Definition of a Good Friend

Friend (N): a person whom one knows and with whom one has a bond of mutual affection.

As a girl, the quality time spent with your closest girl friends are the times that you will remember forever. Whether you go to the mall and spend way too much money, go on a sushi date, or just stay in and cry as you watch chick flicks all night, it's that time that strengthen your friendships most. Becoming close with a group of friends is very important. Friends are there to laugh at your jokes, to pick you up when you fall, and most importantly- help shape you as a person. A wise person once said "show me your friends and I will show you your future." In all honesty, this is correct. You are who you hang out with.

Friends that you can laugh with and at, are the best friends on this earth. When someone understands your sense of humor, it instantly makes life more enjoyable. Picture this: Two people in one room, and one is so dull but they think that they are the funniest person on the planet. Or the other, a very soft-spoken, FUNNY person! Who would you want to be friends with? The soft-spoken funny one, right? The one who will make you laugh! Its proven that laughter is definitely the best medicine. And a night spent with your girls laughing away can instantly relieve the stresses of school, work, and life.

Friends who help you grow in your faith and always support you are the friends that will always hold you accountable, and those are important as well. Friends who will text you to make sure that you read your bible everyday, friends who will pray with you, friends who will send you words of encouragement. Those friends lift you up when you're down, and pretty much tell you everything that they like about you when you're sad just to cheer you up!

We all have that "pretty" friend. Those friends who make every average looking girl look like a potato when they stand next to them. Those friends are needed as well. I believe that girls will be girls, but the very pretty, but also very nice girls are the truest friends. They will almost always make you the ugly friend in pictures, but as you grow closer you will begin to see that there is so much more to them then just being pretty.

Friends. The most important people in your life (besides family). They lift you up. They support you. They laugh with you. They laugh at you. They cry with you. They become a part of you.

Thankful for all of the sleepovers, long nights, missions trips, weekend getaways, random fro-yo dates, and boat days.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
