The Carousel Never Stops Turning

"A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life."- Charles Darwin

The Carousel Never Stops Turning

As I have gotten older, I have come to the realization that time flies by too damn fast. I remember this past weekend like it was yesterday, and now we are onto a new week.

Where does the time go?

For my entire life I have always been a person who plans and who is excited for the future. I know that planning is important, but also living in the moment, living one day at a time is important as well. We only have one life, so we might as well live every day to the fullest, not plan our lives for the next twenty years.

Since college has started, I truly have understood that time is something that we humans cannot stop or freeze; time keeps going no matter the situation or person. I also never valued time as much as I do now. When I have deadlines for essays or projects I make sure I have enough time to complete them in a timely manner because like I said earlier, time flies by too fast. That’s the thing about time: it doesn’t stop for anybody.

I remember my move in day for college on August 25th, 2016 like it was yesterday. I was scared shitless and desperately wanted to go back home. However, I sucked it up and put my emotions aside because I had to be an adult and learn how to live without my family everyday. Plus, I knew that I would be going home in three weeks. :)

It really is unbelievable how fast time goes. I remember going home for Columbus Day Weekend, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving break, and entire month for Christmas break, and now I am two weeks into my second semester of my freshman year. Time, could you slow the frig down for just a minute? Thanks.

This article probably seems like I am ranting about how I loathe that time is too short, but I’m actually just stating what everyone is thinking.

We only have twenty-four hours in a day, only seven days in a week, only four weeks in a month, and only twelve months in a year. Although a year may seem like a long time, but is it really? Doesn’t it seem that 2016 just started? What I am trying to get at here is that people should start spending more time doing things they love and spending time with people that make them happy and loved. Life is too short to not be with great people, drink fantastic coffee, and have a career that you freakin love.

Time is precious. Don't waste it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
