Winter break is so close you can almost taste it. In a few short weeks we'll be curled up on the couch stress free watching holiday movies with friends and family. Channels like ABC Family play our favorite Christmas movies all month long. So which movies are the best Christmas movies?
11. "I'll Be Home for Christmas"
If having '90s heartthrob Jonathan Taylor Thomas and Jessica Biel starring in the movie wasn't enough, the movie offers a humorous outlook on the true meaning of Christmas.
10. "Christmas with the Kranks"
The movie stars Tim Allen and Jaimie Lee Curtis, whose characters decide just to skip Christmas all together since this is the first Christmas that they'll be without their daughter. Their Christmas-obsessed neighbors start to turn on the Kranks, but when the Kranks' daughter surprises them by coming home for the holidays they neighborhood pulls together to help prepare the house for the usual Christmas festivities.
9. "A Charlie Brown Christmas"
Not only is the Macy's in Herald Square based off the movie, but it also reminds us the original meaning of Christmas. Charlie Brown finds himself upset during what's supposed to be a merry holiday. When Charlie Brown seeks advice from Lucy she suggests directing the school play and is ridiculed by his friends. The movie touches on a few issues with Christmas and brings it back to the origin making it a cute movie to watch with your family.
8. "Rudolph, the Red Nosed Reindeer"
Rudolph is a classic. Poor Rudolph was mocked by his peers for being different. They excluded him from their reindeer games, but Rudolph prevails and helps Santa make his route to each house by being his guide through the fog. It teaches a lesson and is a feel-good movie. How could you not love Rudolph?
7. "The Nightmare Before Christmas"
Does anyone know if this is considered a Christmas movie or a Halloween movie? Anyway, "The Nightmare Before Christmas" has catchy songs and is about two of the best holidays, so how could you not love it?
7. "Frosty the Snowman"
Another oldie but goodie. Frosty the snowman, like Rudolph, was based off popular songs created in the 1950s. The movie follows a magical snowman that comes to life and his adventures as a living creature though the end is sad he promises to be back again someday.
6. "Disney's A Christmas Carol"
Though this movie has been remade a trillion times, Disney's remake of it is one of my favorites. The movie follows grumpy Mr.Scrooge, played by Jim Carrey, while three ghosts stop by to remind him what the real meaning of Christmas is.
5. "A Miracle on 34th Street"
This movie will most certainly put you in the Christmas spirit. If you haven't seen "A Miracle on 34th Street" it will quickly become a Christmas favorite. A young girl most convince her mom along with many others that the new Kris Kringle hired at Macy's is the real Santa Claus. It's a cute movie that makes you wanna cook Christmas cookies.
4. "Home Alone"
I feel like "Home Alone" is one of those movies that everyone has seen at least once in their lifetime. When Kevin gets mistakenly left at his house he believes his wish of not having a family comes true. When the family house gets robbed kevin humorously protects the family home.
3. "Polar Express"
What's a good Christmas without some song and dance in them?! The Polar Express, the magical train, takes select children to go to the North Pole on Christmas Eve and see Santa. The movie teaches us to never stop believing and that seeing is believing, but some of the most real things can't be seen.
Who doesn't love Will Ferrell in an elf costume? Elf is one of the most quotable movies. Will Ferrell plays a human that lives in the elf world and ventures off to find his birth father and travels to New York. It's easy to fall in love with this movie and watch it a million times during the Christmas season.
1. "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"
The Grinch's heart grew three sizes that day. Jim Carrey plays the grumpy Grinch who plans to steal Christmas. Though Carrey plays the "villain" in the movie you can't help but love the Grinch.
